Okay so i really needed to get this done. Here we are, a new video for everyone and in order i have the lipsticks that i wanted to review. Mind you these are colors best associated with your style and this is just my personal experience.
The first few brands are from walmart, and then third and fourth are frmo nyx, the fifth is a cream base from maybeline and then the last two (my two favorites for any style i choose) is from Kat von d and her products are just AMAZING. you will never look at makeup the same again! Okay so maybe some clarification is in order. I am taking a trip this July for looking for jobs and looking for a place to stay in Rhode island. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada and was raised in south east Iowa, near Cedar Rapids. So this is something that is not entirely new and I feel that this will be a new adventure for me.
The last time I was in Rhode island was when I had visited an old childhood friend in 2011, and honestly it was the best time of my life. While i am terrified that I would not be able to find a job, I nkow that in my heart of hearts that this will be perfect for me. I am currently seeking out positions and I am also looking at positions where I would be able to stay close to my job. So...if any of my beautiful followers has any leads, it'd be great~ Hey everyone, long time no speak...erm...type. I wanted to just share with you guys after taking one or two days (Due to a headcold that seems to be rather reoccuring), but I wanted to go ahead and share my little 10 ungoth confessions (This will also be on youtube if you're interested! Video will be added as an edit!) So...let's get started shall we? 1. I enjoy lipsticks other than black. Albeit, when people hear the term "Goth" they often think of people who wear black eye-shadow, black eyeliner and black lipstick with a white as paper complexion. While I still enjoy at least a very pale natural complexion with my dark as the night makeup, I still enjoy maybe using a contrasting red for a more "Vampiric" or "Gothabilly" look, but that's usually with my corporate goth makeup. (just because I have a few people in the office I work at who are actually kind of scared of me when I wear my black makeup, while it's awesome that I have the freedom to wear my black makeup, I personally dont want to make HR think that I'm about to have a breakdown due to normal connotations to those of the Gothic subculture.) This picture was actually taken this morning and honestly i like how ti looks, not exactly goth, but not exactly normal "pastel" makeup or normal makeup either, it's a very vampy red and a very dark eyeliner that's wing. So...very corporate and very gothabilly. (Ps. purples and dark blues/navy blues work too ♥ I loves those with a passion~~~ and honestly I love my neon blue and black combination for my cyber goth days~) 2. I enjoy music other than the typical "goth music"
3. I honestly enjoy smiling and cracking jokes Now, everyone in this subculture knows that we are pegged as people who don't smile or dont laugh or have fun. That can't be further than the truth with me or my girl or my best friend. All three of us are goths and we tend to be the happiest people that I personally know. My friends who aren't goth tend to focus on the negative and it drives me up the wall! And not like a "Oh hah hah, exorcist" kind of driving me up the wall, but more like a "Keep being negative and I'll show you something to be negative about :) " kind. 4. I work at a non-art company Again, another wonderful stereotype that everyone seems to know so well. We all apparently work at coffee shops and at low end craft shops because that's all who will hire us right? Wrong. I work for a timeshare company and I absolutely love it! It has it's drawbacks (Such as the amount of people who aren't as well versed with the whole vampiric style that I'm into) but it also has it's benefits of me being able to travel to other states and countries if I need to go out of town for a concert or for a convention or something! 5. I'm a cosplayer! "goths aren't nerds, and nerds aren't goth" Quite the contrary, most of my friends who are both in cosplay and are nerds are in fact goth but i think that's because i hang around the best people ever. I mean, i have friends who cosplay in some of the darker fandoms that I know of such as welcome to night vale and interview with a vampire. Of course those are some of the more goth fandoms, but heck i know people who are into this with the idea of being batman nerds! But then again, who could go wrong with wearing more costume based outfits and taking the time to make them? I love the idea of being able to be a character outside of my normal wardrobe and i hope to be better at it as time goes on! (And yes, that is a very naked face version of me in the middle of the night when I was working on my Touken Ranbu cosplay of Kanesada Izuminokami for Otakon Vegas 2017 ) 6. I am building a tarot deck that's video game themed!
7. I. Love. Blue. Footed. BOOBIES. THESE BIRDS ARE AMAZING AND THEY MAKE ME SMILE. JUST. LOOK AT THEM!!! THEY ARE PERFECTION IN EVERY SINGLE WAY!!!! THIS FEATHER BABY HAS A STICK AND ITS GONNA PRESENT IT TO THE MATE OF IT'S DREAMS, IT IS LITERALLY ME AND CEASIE WHEN I AM TRYING TO BE NICE TO HER AND I JREALLY JUST WANNA CUDDLE. THESE BIRDS ARE MORE LIKE FUR TODDLERS OH MY GOD THEY ARE JUST SO FRIKKEN CUTE!!!!! THEY HAVE TO BE THE MOST CUDDLY PENGUIN-PUFFIN THING THAT I'VE EVER SEEN AND OH MY GOD YOU NEED TO WATCH EVERYTHING WITH THEM ON YOUTUBE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY THEY'RE JUST ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH----- -ahem- ....anywho. 8. I like Tea more than coffee I am so going to get a lot of flack for this one. I love my coffee don't get me wrong, but as of right now and for most of my life I absolutely love my morning tea or my morning coffee, but tea seems to resonate with me more, I don't know if it's because I was raised in a smaller town where coffee was not as often accessible to a young teenager who didn't have a car to go to the next town over. So, I'd get my caffeine fix from either sugary soda such as my favorite drink ever Mt dew or in the morning sometimes my mom would make me some tea and some creamer, it was something that'd be very welcomed on the cold winter nights of the Midwest, and honestly, it's very much welcomed more than coffee as it's a bit sweeter for me sometimes, and honestly, I have the habit of drinking green tea frappaccinos versus the ever lovely coffee drinks at Starbucks. Fite me. 9. I am an ambivert While I am a little shy and a little bit introverted, i prefer the term "Ambivert". Just because there are some days where i just can't with people and other days that I'm just wanting all of the attention. But i have my limits just like any person, but for some reason people think goths are only into their clicks and only into themselves and always alone? I dont know about you but I have yet to meet another goth who isn't bubbly and happy and a little bit ambivert. 10. I am not apologetic for my style, but if I am visiting an older family member, I will tone it down a bit. Most goths don't understand what tone ti down means, or a lot of the elitist types anyway. I have been told over and over again that it is very "ungoth" to tone down your style for anyone. I have told my family over and over again, if need be I am willing to tone it down for a visit to my great grandmother's house, and I'm willing to make it look like a classy dark look if need be. I am often seen not really wearing makeup in front of my family just because I am comfortable with and without it and I know that makeup doesn't make the person. I use it just to express myself and I honestly feel that "normal" makeup styles are a little boring, however I know that there is no shame in toning it down for certain occasions and making it a little bit easier on myself so i don't have to explain to my mothers rabbi why i choose to dress this way, I enjoy explaining the culture to others but there are obviously times in my life where I have to choose one thing, pick a fight with a conservative family member, or just abide by the rules and just play nice nice while still staying a little true to myself. Anyway, those are my 10 "un-goth" confessions and I will be linking the video when it is up and going! If you liked it definetly try out my channel on youtube and like an dsubscribe or even leave a comment here i read all of them! Remember have a great night guys and always, stay spoopy~ - Vikalynn So to those who like these types of videos, you're going to love this. I love making these types of videos just because they are super super easy to make and also super fun to show off my makeup routine! Hopefully soon though i'll have a better camera so you guys can see the details a bit better.
however I wanted to share with you guys the cosmetics i used in this which of course as custom, are usually really dark vampy colors. The lipstick in the color is the kat von D everlasting lipstick in nosferatu, however when I made this video I used my eyeshadow (I do not do this unless i have nothing to compliment.) The eyeshadow and my liner (also eyeshadow just because i do not have eyeliner at the moment) is the 86 color pallet in shimmer and natural from bh cosmetics. now...about these types of videos hopefully i'll be doing makeup tutorials shortly! but i really enjoy making these just because it allows me to be creative and give a small look into the life of a person who dabbles in her gothic look. Next one that I will be doing will be a light "Corp goth" look, where i'll still be doing the vampy lip and the dark eyes, however it will still be considered something called "Hr appropriate" But that is something in the future (Hopefully as soon as my newest outfit comes in! hopefully soooooon!) Stay tuned and stay spooky all~ that's all i got for today! - Vikalynn Before I say anything. Thank you to those who follow this blog, you all are absolutely amazing even though i have only been working on this for the past few days.
I thought I'd speak a little bit about this tag and why i think it's important to address the things the way i did. First and foremost, I LOVED this tag, and honestly it brought a lot of questions that I don't really ask myself no a constant basis which i probably should to the table. I believe that every person who identifies as goth no matter how small or how much they are in the subculture (I.e. if you just enjoy the fashion, if you just enjoy the culture from a scholarly view and you identify with it) as a whole. I believe that this tag will bring us together when people are trying to tear us apart between the elitists and the people who are over protective. Honestly i think that this is a good thing to gain perspective between all of us. I honestly believe that this tag was an amazing experience and I encourage yourself to ask these questions! If you are able to be truthful with yourself and answer them absolutely truthfully , you'll find out more about yourself than what you thought. The Goth Tag Questions: 1. How long have you been goth? 2. How were you introduced to goth? 3. What gothic subgenre would you put yourself in? 4. What do you believe to be the bases of the gothic subculture? 5. What do you dislike about being goth? 6. What do you parents think of it? 7. Eyebrows or no eyebrows? 8. What is your favorite band? 9. Your opinion on Marilyn Manson? 10. What were your baby bat days like? Also if you do this tag please show me! i'd love to see your answers!! Keep it spooky guys ♥ Vikalynn Hey my little readers out there ( i need to find a name for you guys <3 shout out to the first one to call out on this! ) But i've been getting in touch with my musical side,a nd honestly I Love digital music such as 8 bit renditions of things! So here is my list of awesome music that I wanted to share with you guys from 8 Bit Universe!
What's good about Du hast? Everything. if you are a fan of german metal, you are going to love rammstein's most popular song (other than "Mein land" which i like to call "rammstein goes to the beach") but why woudl you like it? It's filled with angst and absolutely lovely with the digital copy, i can totally see myself using this as a background for my cyber goth stuff! Mayhaps it's just something that I really like to show...and honestly i can't tell you the direct reason why, but just take a listen and you'll see~ 2. Black Parade "Son when you grow up" this song always touched those who were part of the "emo" movement when i was growing up, and heck i liked it too because it was an extremely emotional song and it was just...a staple of any alternative lifestyle. I honestly hadn't heard this song in a long time and honestly i didn't' think I'd have to go back to my chemical romance, however here we are, now i'm boasting about how good this song is. And when you know the lyrics, this little 8 bit gem definetly hits some highs and will bring you to a sense of fulfillment that you never knew you would hit. 3. American Idiot Okay i'm sure you guys are getting sick of 8 bit songs now...but honestly i wanted to share this before i got into my cybergoth stuff, just because digital music is ...as my wife would put it "YAS QUEEN" albeit all these songs aren't gothy at all, but they are digital and they are really really nice no the ears, thus why i started this blog off with "DIGITAL MUSIC" and not "Goth digital" or "Cyber goth only" ...so yeah. But yeah this song is just...it's my teenagehood, greenday was absolutely my favorite band growing up and honestly this song was one of my favorites other than "Wake me up when september ends" I love how bouncy this 8 bit rendition is and it honestly makes me so happy to hear this over and over again, and honestly i think if you need a pick me up it would make you just as happy because honestly it has the 8 bit goodness of an old game boy color game but also the catchyness of the original song. I suggest take a listen~ 4. Eisenfunk - Atomic Bomb Okay so now you'll see my work for Gothic music and dark wave type techno. Honestly i think eisenfunk does one hell of a job. They give off a sense of tension in this one song and it honestly makes me so happy to listen to it, and honestly every time i listen to it i want to start dancing like i would at a rave or techno bar. That and it honestly does go with my persona of my cyber goth material. I tend to want to dress up in post apocalyptic gear , my blue trip pants, my respirator with the biohazard symbol, my cyberlox and my blue contacts, and i'm ready for a song like this! I highly suggest you take a look into the song like this, especially if you want to get into that type of mood! 5. Eisenfunk - Pong Okay so this is more for my nerdy friends out there that really like the sound of pong keeping a beat to a techno beat. Honestly i am kind of indifferent to this song but it makes it super easy to dance to when you're at the rave or dance club or even a goth club. that sort of thing. So i thought i'd share, it's a little less dark but it's nice to see cybergoth's in this music video! Thanks for reading guys and hopefully i was able to share some interesting music with you guys and I was able to make a small difference ni your music library! Share with us! What is your favorite music? What do you like to listen to when you're at a goth club? When do you listen to your music? How do you listen? Are there any rituals you put with your music? Leave a comment and come check it out! Peace guys! ♥ Vik "I am not going to lost my nerve, I am different and they are just jerks!"
This of course is what I used to utter and to this day probably still utter under certain circumstances for when I step out of the apartment in Goth clothing. Hi, my name is Vikalynn and I am a goth here in Las Vegas. I have a YouTube channel and I often find myself wondering what other people think of me, albeit that's mostly because I'm anxious and I have social anxiety, but that is often besides the point. Most goths at some point in their life often find themselves scorning or scowling at those who just simply don't understand what we are doing. We are often told that we are scary or that we are halloween decorations (Thanks aunt carol...) however, I digress. I just wanted to write to those who are wanting to get into the subculture a list of advice that I wish I had when I was in my baby bat stage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Goth is not about self mutilation. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY DO I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS?! Yes, the music is more forlorn, yes the music's message is "The world is sad. But that's okay" . we are /not/ about self mutilation and we are not about self harm! Honestly, to the contrary, every Gothic person that I've known through out my life we've all been happy! Super happy to be honest, granted that the things that make us happy scare the ever living crap out of people. But we're still a very happy and very positive bunch! You're going to hear the fears of your friends and family that you're going to self mutilate or be depressed, when there are things that are further from the truth. I have anxiety and depression, but I am not a depressed person all the time, just when my medication doesn't work. Do not let the stereotypes eat you alive. 3. We are not all metal heads. Goth is the subculture of loving the macabre, and while a lot of us are metal fans, not everyone enjoyst eh music, just the fashion and the lifestyle. Me personally I love skinny puppy (Yes that's a band) and i love older classics such as Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd (Thanks dad...wherever you are). But I also love other types of music such as country (yes so very ungoth, but it's really good!) but I also listen to what people would call pagan rock or folk rock. I suggest you just being you, and you need to listen to what you like to listen to , but just show some sort of respect for those who started the movement, because think about it! If we didn't have bands who started the movement of goth we wouldn't have the beautiful fashion that we have today! 4. We have different styles ♥ and it's common to wear multiple outfits and that's okay~ There is this misconstrued thought that we are all under one fashion, either be it vampire or trad goth. There are multiple forms of this fashion and lifestyle! Do not try to box yourself in, while others like the labels, i feel that it is very deprimental to a subculture all together. I feel that you do not have to be a certain goth "type" but you're goth all together. You deserve to be happy and dress as you wish! For me example wise, there aer some days where I feel like being a sleek victorian goth while other days i live for the cyber goth and wear my biological hazard symbols with my respirator and cyberlox. Just be yourself and love what you wear! if it makes you comfortable to wear black and listen to industrial one day and then the next day wear loose goth clothing that are more hippie like and listen to folk metal? Do the thing! Don't limit yourself! 5. Just. Be. You. |
